A spy cam is basically a machine which is capable of recording video (and in some cases audio) of an area without the subject’s knowledge. A lot of people are getting behind spy cameras because of the benefits it offers to everyone. Spy cams have gained immense popularity in recent years mainly due to the increasing concerns by many people regarding the rising costs of natural disasters and other emergency situations. Spy cameras therefore are being used for many different purposes by individuals.
Spy Camera Types
A spy camera can either be built into or can be attached to an object. In order to attach a camera to something, it can either be attached to the object with an external device or it can also be installed with a miniature camera to the inside of the object. Spy cameras thus are considered to be of utmost use in many security, surveillance and monitoring applications.
Hidden cameras for surveillance
The most common use of spy cameras is for security and surveillance applications. Many security firms and private investigators now use hidden cameras for surveillance. They are very helpful in monitoring large areas and can reveal the whole scope of what takes place in that particular area. There are many different types of spy cameras available in the market today. The two main types of hidden cameras are the passive infrared (PIR) camera and the video infrared camera.
Clock hidden cameras
The clock hidden cameras are the first type which uses an infra red illuminator to emit light which is invisible to humans. These cameras can be used at home, offices, restaurants, banks, hospitals, banks and casinos. The reason why it is used in such varied sectors is due to the high cost of maintaining a normal visible camera. For instance, it would cost much more to buy a normal surveillance camera and maintain it at a fixed location than it would to install a clock camera. Since the clock spy cameras are able to detect movement at a distance of over 30 feet, they can monitor a large area very efficiently and save costs on personnel and operational costs.
Motion detection cameras
The second type of spy cameras is the motion detection camera. This is one amongst the most popular types of spy cameras today being used by businesses and individuals alike. The motion detection camera has the ability to detect movements at a distance of up to six feet using ultrasonic technology. It can be controlled via a smartphone using a Bluetooth device.
Wearable spy cameras
Many law enforcement authorities today also use wearable spy cameras. Such spy cameras are usually hidden, compact, and can be worn like regular eyeglasses or even a shirt. These wearable cameras have the ability to transmit their image to an external source via the internet. Most of these wearable spy cameras work via Bluetooth whereas some use Infrared instead. It should be noted that while internet cameras function via Bluetooth, they do not transmit their images via the internet.
Wi-Fi spy cameras
Lastly, one type of hidden camera that can be used for surveillance purposes is the wi-fi camera. Wi-Fi spy cameras are built in cameras which can transmit their images through the airwaves accessible via a laptop or smartphone. These devices are usually controlled via the internet and can send their images to a remote location through the use of a SMS or email attachment. Most of these wireless spy cameras function through the use of Bluetooth whereas some use Infrared instead.
End Note
These are just some of the types of spy cameras available in the market today. Each of these spy cams is capable of recording video footage and audio at great quality. They can be easily installed with little or no technical knowledge and can work well regardless of what the environment is. In the end, you can choose whichever type of hidden camera will best meet your individual and business surveillance requirements.
