The Night Owl camera is all over the internet, and every time you watch a video online, you hear that wonderful voice over again: “The Night Owl has arrived.” This is such a unique product, and you might want to have one if you live in a remote area. This is one of the most versatile cameras available on the market, and it’s a great investment for any home, or apartment, or condo. So, how does it work, and what does it cost?

As the name implies, the Night Owl Monocular is a monocular night vision camera. What this means is, it doesn’t use a flash. In fact, it doesn’t even need light to function, because the image sensor doesn’t need to receive light at all to work. That is pretty incredible when you consider the technology available today. I don’t know anyone who would want a traditional camera flash to light up their video.

Step number one is to attach the monocular camera to your helmet or vest. Most Night Owls are lightweight and small, and don’t take up too much space. And since it does not have a flash, you can mount it right on top of your head with a headband.

Once mounted, you’ll want to go out and test the Night Owl. I recommend testing the image on your computer screen, as this way you can see if it’s showing up correctly. If you can see that the image is properly lit, then the Night Owl works as it should. If the screen shows a dark or dingy gray, then the image isn’t showing up properly.

Steps To Set Up Night Owl

Next, you’ll want to get your Night Owl and attach it to your head. If your helmet is too loose or too big, the camera will fall off, but if the helmet fits correctly, then you can safely strap the camera on without worry.

Step number two is to connect the night vision camera to your helmet. You simply connect the monocular to your helmet’s lens. Your helmet’s clip attaches to the monocular, and then the clips onto the helmet’s helmet straps. You do need to make sure that your helmet is attached to your head while you are attaching the other clip.

Step number three is to set your video up. After attaching the monocular to the helmet, you need to find the night vision icon and select the video file you want to record.

All in all, Night Owl really is a unique product, and I recommend giving it a try. I was able to capture some amazing footage, and even got lucky a couple of times! If you’re in an area where there are no night-vision devices, or if you’d prefer to stay under the radar, then I would still suggest purchasing a Night Owl.

Reasons To Use Night Owl Camera

One of the main reasons why I recommend Night Owl is because it’s so versatile. It’s capable of recording video in different modes: night vision, day vision, daylight, and even auto motion detection mode.

You can use the recording time to record in any mode you want. The quality is great, and you’ll be surprised how much you can actually record in these three modes. It’s like having a personal camcorder, only it’s even more versatile. I also liked that I didn’t have to take my hands off of my face when I was recording, which is what I’ve been used to with most camcorders.

Final Thoughts

The owls are that it’s wireless. It’s very easy to set up, and I’m able to place it wherever I want. I can mount the unit on my helmet, and the fact that it is so versatile means that I don’t have to worry about running wires through walls, or through the house.
